Today, I put my main character into a coma for an excuse to start my novel over. Just for laughs, here's the transition from story to story...
Just as he had closed his eyes, wondering what his brother was doing and whether or not he should call to make sure his sister was moved in all right, there was a knock at his door.
He paused, unsure of what to do. Should he stay in bed, comfortable and safe, or get up and answer it. His To Do list glared at him from his desk. He allowed it to coax him out of bed, out from underneath his warm covers. Slowly, he padded across the length of the room, opened the door, and smiled nervously at the face staring back at him.
“Hello?”
The boy standing outside of his door proceeded to laugh at his nervous, pajama-clad state. He then pulled back his fist and let it go, snap, like a bow stretched taut and released. Adam fell backwards, the color leeching from his world, the rush of warm blood spurting from his nose.
He didn’t wake up for seven years.
Oh, and I wrote 2,336 words today. Woo!
This sounds... familiar. :)
